How to read this map
Each circle is a data center campus assembled from public records: facility inventories, operator disclosures, utility filings, air and water permits, county plan cases, incentive rosters and imagery. Color shows the selected lens. Hollow circles are approximate positions (a town center), not a site.
Stage is the furthest step a public record proves, from 0 (codename only) to 8 (operating). Campuses with no record that proves a stage are grey. Withdrawn, blocked, cancelled, paused and moratorium-affected projects are hidden until you turn them on.
MW values are observed in a filing or disclosure. There are seven types and they measure different things, so the map never adds one type to another. "Announced by developer" is the developer's own claim.
Pale violet rings with a light fill are projects announced in press with no public filing found yet. They are not counted in the pipeline.
Estimated critical IT (Power lens) is a labeled estimate for campuses at stage 6 or later with no stated IT figure: building footprint times the watts per square foot reported by campuses that state both. Estimates are drawn as rings and are never added to observed MW.
The timeline adds campuses by the year of their first public record, not the year they opened.
